If you have read somewhere recently that Aamir Khan has shelved his pet project ‘Delhi Belly’, take it as a rumor. The post production work of the English film is very much on and the trailers of the movie will be out with his other home production ‘Dhobi Ghat’ this January. ‘Delhi Belly’ is directed by debutant Abhinav Deo. Aamir and his wife Kiran Rao recently approached Amitabh Bachchan to be the narrator for an introduction piece that will be used in the film. The piece has been written by none other than Aamir Khan.
Witnesses said that Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao visited Amitabh Bachchan on the sets. They had a closed door meeting for about a couple of hours. After a few days, Baritone Bachchan dubbed for ‘Delhi Belly’ at a suburban studio. The film stars Imraan Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Vir Das. Aamir, who’s known to be a perfectionist in everything he does, is working full time with director Abhinav Deo on the post production of the film. Aamir’s previous experiences with directors for his home production has been sad: Amol Gupte (‘Taare Zameen Par’ director who was shown the door after a few days of shooting and Aamir himself put on the director’s hat) and Anusha Rizvi (‘Peepli Live’ director who cried foul and disowned the film) are cases in point.
But Amitabh Bachchan dubbing for ‘Delhi Belly’ marks the end of a long-standing cold war between him and Aamir Khan. Aamir had called Big B’s film ‘Black’ melodramatic and opined that children should never be treated so roughly. Aamir himself made the very sensitive ‘Taare Zameen Par’ to prove his point but the Senior Bachchan was much offended. He voiced his opinions on his blog and that was the start of their feud. True to legendary Bollywood tradition, there’s no permanent friendship on enmity in stardom, the two seems to have patched up their differences. Amitabh had been the narrator of Aamir’s Oscar nominated ‘Lagaan’.
