It sure looks like a mutual admiration society here! Or it could all be for the purpose of marketing their September 3 release, ‘We Are Family’. The costars of the film, Arjun Rampal, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor are admiring each other openly in the media. A couple of days back Arjun called Kareena, the “Sachin Tendulkar of Bollywood”! But his statements had the ingredients for a full-blown controversy. So he did a volte-face and claimed that his words have been distorted in their context. What he meant was that Kareena was in “great form” like the Master Blaster. Arjun iterated that Kareena was powerful enough as an actress to carve out a separate, unique identity for herself.
It is understood that Arjun Rampal didn’t stop there! He spoke of his real life role of a father. He had to speak of his fatherhood because he plays one in the movie. For those not in the loop, ‘We Are Family’ is the official Hindi remake of ‘Stepmom’ and Arjun plays the role that was essayed by Ed Harris in the original. Speaking further, he revealed that he was a yes-man to his children and it was his wife Mehr Jessia Rampal who was the strict one. He labeled himself as the ‘good cop’ against his wife’s ‘bad cop’ act. Arjun is 37 years old with 2 daughters.
Kareena didn’t mince words either while praising Kajol. She likened Kajol to be an actress she always admired (of course!) and said that they had a lovely time shooting the movie (didn’t we know that?). Kareena also trashed reports that Karan Johar, the producer of ‘We Are Family’, asked her to shed some weight for the film. Bebo said that these were rumors and she was happy with the weight she had put on. No wonders there! After the debacle of ‘Tashan’, she couldn’t have gone back to the starving and crash dieting for that Size Zero frame. Apparently, ‘We Are Family’ is Kareena’s 40th film!
